Favorite Things Ornament #2

Last Fall I decided to turn my Baltimore Crab into the first of a new series of ornaments. This isn't a club its a collection. The idea is that it is simply things that I like — My Favorite Things.

Each year I will do a new ornament. They will be in no particular order, just whatever speaks to me that year. Ultimately they will all go together because of color and style but they are also ornaments you can do just because. The 2008 ornament is Stitch. It is after all what we love to do. :-) It's a quick stitch and would look great on a needlepoint tree or appliqued to your stitching tote.

The orange background pattern is a dream to stitch. Long stitches top to bottom of Petite Sparkle Rays with Cross Stitches embellishing it (and holding it in place) of Impressions. Love the look! Oh and wait until you see my crazy idea for making the stitching thread. Threads and beads and it looks like a twisted thread. Well it does if I have my glasses on.

Okay, enough banter. Off to finish something else. I'm on a roll!

She's gorgeous!

My flower shopping lady is back from the finisher and she's gorgeous. So girlie and so Audrey Hepburn and just perfect. I love her. Now to find the perfect spot for her to live.

I have lots of things in the works right now so hopefully I will be posting more often.

Have a happy happy Turkey Day.

Needlepoint Therapy

Saturday before last we hosted Beth Robertson and Suzanne Howren at the shop for a little needlepoint therapy. Everyone can use a little therapy and needlepoint therapy is the best kind. We all had so much fun. Beth and Suzanne are the absolute best for taking on this challenge.

They arrived in the morning prepared for 50 minute sessions with individual students. Each student brought a canvas of their choice and could pick the brains of these two ladies for ideas and inspiration.

I can't wait to see what comes of the electric storm of ideas. There will be witches and stockings and flowers -- too many beautiful canvases to name but the ideas, oh the ideas!

Beth and Suzanne are the talented duo behind the Stitches for Effect series of books. These are must have compendiums of stitches for your collection as each diagram is not only clearly illustrated but gives you ideas for how to use the stitch (ie: makes good fur or grass or buildings. You get the idea.)

And the best part is that Beth and Suzanne have agreed to come back! They will be here in April of 2009. You can read all the details on our events page.

I just love taking classes and sharing ideas. There is so much to learn and experiment with!

Stitching Kitty

Okay, I couldn't stand it. I had to post a picture of the newest addition to our family. This is Richie. Is he not the perfect stitching kitty? He really will curl up under my system 4 table stand and nap while I stitch. I promise not to poke him with a needle and he doesn't attack my threads more than one or twice before he settles down and decides to to sleep under the light.

P.S. I'll post about what we are stitching shortly :-)
