Valentine Fashions

We meet again! Today was the second class of the Poinsettia Lady mystery.  Just two days before Valentine's Day and our slightly curvy Poinsettia Lady needs an oh-so-fashionable red and white ensemble.

The challenge is, of course, finding stitches and threads that are fun for her clothes, remind us of the patterns originally painted, but don't flatten her out.

We need the curve and sway of her hips.  Simple Upright Satin Stitches are called into play.

Look at those arms, they bend!  We either need a stitch that changes direction at her elbow, or one that has no direction.  I chose the later.  Plus I was able to shade the stitch so that her arm looks round.  I do  love it when a plan comes together!

Minimal threads and a few well placed stitches make for a great outfit.  There are still details to add.  Maybe next class.

Less you think everyone plays along with me with no rebellion, we started plotting alternate buttons for her sleeves today.  There may be options discussed later.  I'll be sure to keep you posted!

This is such a fun canvas! I love her expression and the gold lines over her eyes. Lovely touch!
