Hello Kitties

You knew it had to happen.

We had to have bead snap trays that coordinate with our regular snap trays.

We're just those kind of girls.

Coordinated, but not matchy matchy.

The very first Limited Edition.  Get them exclusively here Twin Sets are, drumroll please......

Hello Kitty!

How cute are these?  They are sold as a set only - thus the twin set name.

There are many more patterns and combos to come.  There will be Christmas and Halloween and just every day fun stuff.  So stay tuned and see what lands next.  I can't wait for you to see them all.  It won't be long, just hang in there and wait for the fun that is to come!

Why Hello Kitty, first?  Because it's different and quirky and retro and of course because it has kitties on it :-)

Now just because you asked.  Say hello to the boys.

Tropical Jazz

Terry Dryden is coming to teach at the shop and we are so excited!

You know we love our visiting teachers and we like to introduce new teachers to the mix.  I saw this piece in person and fell in love.  I knew it was the piece for us.

Full of fun, Terry will bring this counted canvas design to life: Tropical Jazz is a collage of colors, textures, and patterns which combine to create the imagery of a tropical paradise. Learn a new marker technique for adding color and depth to the canvas, and then stitch a few new openwork patterns with Sea Grass and Soy Luster, to add even more interest. Braids stitched with sequins, Stef Francis’ hand-dyed slubbed silk and crinkled rayon, and several Valdani cottons are all included here with interesting and unique results. Resin and other other beads are scattered throughout the design and there will be a demo in class on painting the resin beads. You will have the option to try the technique in class, but hand painted beads are included in your kit.

October 26th and 27th, 11 - 5 pm

Aquamarine, the Disco Mermaid

Aquamarine isn't a shy mermaid.  She likes to be the center of attention.

If you want to be the center of attention then what better than to cover yourself in sequins!  Sparkly, sparkly sequins!

Today was the last class of the Aquamarine Mermaid Mystery Class.  Our girl is now ready for the finisher.

The main part of her tail is big easy eyelets with large sequins in the center of each and the bottom of her tail is row upon row of tiny sequins shading between two colors.

Thank you Sandra Vargas for a fun design to stitch and thank you ladies for joining us in class.

New Finishes

How cute is this finishing for a holiday pillow.  Looks just like a present!

The perfect finish for our Watering Can Lady.  This is a Corina Luyken design from Maggie that we offered as a Mystery Class.  So fun.

Thanks Carol and Beth for the great stitching and allowing us to to show off your masterpieces.

Got Apps?

For all of my iphone and ipad loving friends we now have 3 apps to keep your stitches at hand 24/7.

iStitches Volume Three was just released!  Go to the app store and type in iStitches and you can download one, two or three volumes!

There are different stitches in each Volume so you will have lots of choices with you. They are great resources when traveling.  If you need a stitch, just hop on to your phone or ipad and with a few quick swipes you can see the diagrams of exactly how to do it.

The stitches are arranged by Name and by Type including straight, diagonal, crossed and tied, decorative, laid fillings, blackwork, darning patterns and eye stitches.

The apps are designed for the iphone but with a click of the 2X button they are big and pretty on the ipad.

Here's to always having your stitching close at hand!

So Much Creativity, So Little Time

Here we are, Monday afternoon.  The one, the only Brenda Hart is in the air, winging her way West.  We have soooo much fun when she is here.

There's the laughter and the fun and friendship, old and new.

There's the shopping.  Yes, the master enablers were here encouraging new projects to be adopted and then there was the retail therapy that Brenda and I get in to on our nights off.  That is another story :-)

Mostly there is soooo much creativity packed in to three short days.

Pat has started stitching the new Bye Blue Finches by Eleanor Grosch.  It's turning out great.   This photo in no way does it justice.  She promises to share her notes so that we will have a stitch guide.

Brenda loves to demonstrate stitches and design on the fly.  Here she is with Sarah and the Zecca Pink Bird.

Mom brought the Zecca Fall tree back for a few more embellishments.  This is going to be a knockout when finished.  She is now a master at Bullions.

Check out the padding on this girl! And the beaded curls in her hair.  Each area of the canvas is a new little gem.  Carole is loving all the fun stitches.  We love that she spent her birthday with us!

Sue loves the Hal Mayforth canvases and put her vote in to stitch Dreaming of Opposable Thumbs.

I love the stitch choice for the body of the dog.  You know I love polka dots and I am going to have to use this somewhere.  Just saying :-)

Wendy got a lot accomplished on this Lani iris collage.  I love the pink and black stripes at the top.  The stitches and threads really pull the design together.

Look at how much Kathy got done on this Lani geisha!  Such cool stitches.

Pat also worked on the Zecca Owl family.  We all love this canvas.  It was suggested several times as a mystery class but I thought it was a little big.

Check out the beaded feathers.

Buttons for eyes!

Palma is a self proclaimed collage-aholic.  Lani does great canvases that are composites of little gems that are so much fun to stitch.  Here's the center of the gourmet collage with the stitched fruit.

She brought Alice in Wonderland to visit.  This was started not too long ago in a Brenda class.  Brenda picked most of the stitches and then Palma ran with it.  Gorgeous work Palma.

Until next time.  Stitch on!

Let's Have a Penguin Party!

Every once in a while we run a class that is different. Well, different for us.

It's not a visiting teacher class as I am the teacher and I'm already here.  :-)

It's not a mystery class, as for once we know what the project looks like when finished.

It's not necessarily a beginner class, but I'm game if you're game.

It's not a cyber class because we really will meet in person.  But, if you aren't local we are happy to kit the class for you and send it.

So, Let's Have a Penguin Party!

We all love Charley Harper and what could be cuter than a daddy and baby penguin?  Spend the day stitching with friends while learning new stitches and seeing how I pick stitches.

Class will be August 10 from 11-5pm.

Canvas design area is 9.5 x 13 stitchpainted on 18ct. Class cost is $350.00 and includes canvas, threads, crystals, instruction and lunch!

You will need 14 x 17 stretcher bars.

*Class size is limited. Please sign up early to reserve your space and ensure you receive your canvas in time to start with the rest of the class. A $150 non refundable deposit will be required. Balance due July 25th.

You may also sign up for this class long distance.

She's Arrived!

Another lovely girl has arrived to our party.  She's glamorous in her pink gown with the heavily beaded hem.  Obviously she had to bring her umbrella and matching cape to combat the never ending rain.  She didn't want to miss the festivities!

Her hair is styled so fashionably.  She has great earrings.

She's delighted to be invited to the party.  This is the 5th girl to join our Row of Ladies Mystery with a Twist Class.  Each girl is more fun than the next.  Their gowns are full of big impact but really aren't hard to stitch.  I promise.  We only have one more to be complete!

If you would like to read more about the Row of Ladies Mystery Class, Click here. It's just like my other Mystery Classes at Bedecked and Beadazzled except at a much sloooower pace.  All classes are long distance, there are no in person lessons.

To my ladies who are stitching this, kits are packed and shipping.

Broom Parking - Another Finish

OOOH! Look at this.  Beautiful finish!  So fun!

Almost a shame to put it away after Halloween.  Maybe Sue will leave it out.  It really does make you smile every time you look at it.

And check out the back of the box.  We couldn't let the tagline on the canvas go completely, so it's embroidered on the back.

This was our Halloween Mystery Class at Bedecked and Beadazzled - Broom Parking from Share One's Ideas.

A day at the salon

Today was Aquamarine's day at the spa.  She needed her hair styled for the photoshoot and while she was there she had her makeup done too.

We started class by stitching the seahorse.  One stitch and one thread over the little guy.  He's cute and bumpy.  My favorite part are the beaded picots along his back!

Next up we styled her hair. First you have to basketweave  her hair and then......

We added big sweeping curls made from Wonder Ribbon.  Wonder Ribbon is sheer magic.  It's a tubular mesh but unlike Flair if you stretch it it stays in it's new shape.  Wowza!

Start with a length of Wonder Ribbon in a size 18 needle.  Tie a knot at the end and secure it on the reverse.  Bring your needle up at the end of a curl and allow it to swoop into position.  It came off a spool so it will want to curl.

Stretch the ribbon width-wise to make it full and fluffy.  (If you pull it too much you can stretch it back, no harm, no foul.)  Now with a single strand of invisible thread or a single ply of silk or floss tack one side of the ribbon in position.  You just need enough stitches so that if the wind blows it doesn't mess up her hair.

I love this stuff!  It's instant gratification.  Bing, bang, boom and her hair is fabulous.  (Ok, after you basketweave the base.)

Next up is her tail.  How pretty and sparkly can it be?  See you soon.
