One Lucky Girl

Sometimes you reflect on how lucky you are in life.  This weekend was just that time.

As I sat in the classroom watching Brenda Hart work her magic I was struck by how lucky I am.  Not only do I get to do what I love for a living and get to learn from so many talented teachers but I spent the weekend surrounded by all of my best friends.

Here's part of the group and all of our accoutrements!  Wow, there's a lot of stuff.

Kathy and Sue tag-teamed Brenda on Charley Harper's Coral Reef.

You know you are in trouble when half the canvas has to be rolled up.

Pat was having a great time working on the Melissa Shirley birdhouses at the beach.  Such fun areas for stitches.

She kicked the colors up a notch which is always a good thing in my book.

Sometimes a canvas needs a color consult.

Linda decided to deviate from her typical Halloween canvases and go for Christmas!

The giant Charley Harper wasn't enough for Kathy so she challenged Brenda to stitchguide the Stitching Witches by Melissa Shirley.

Talk about a fun piece to stitch!  Each area is its own little gem.  Great canvas by zecca with stitches by Brenda.  What a combo.

Wendy has all her stitches for this fun Hal Mayforth canvas.

Kathy is working on a sugar skull from ryn.  We had a great time adding beads and crystals!

Love this Santa by CBK.  All of the swirls on his coat will be beaded!

I'm not even going to ask what kind of mischief these girls are getting in to.

But it does look like they are having fun.

And of course our favorite girl Graffiti was here.  She didn't do much stitching, but she was loved by all.

Ladies, you rock!  I love you all.  Thank you for being my friends and for coming to play this weekend.

I've posted this magical mystical piece before but as we get ready for Halloween I thought you might like to see the threads that bring the canvas to life.

Simple wonderful threads and of course BEADS! turn this into this.

Moondance by Sandra Gilmore.  Stitchpainted canvas on 18ct complete with stitchguide.  Love it!

Eeeek! It's time for the Halloween Mystery Class at Bedecked and Beadazzled

Today was the first lesson of the Boo! Mystery Class.

Boo! is a canvas interpreted from a painting by Hal Mayforth.  Funky and retro it has lots of possibilities.

We started with his little sheet covered body.  So cute in a fun stitch that glows in the dark with two different threads.

His mouth is big and bold, you can almost hear him saying Boo!

This canvas is an easy stitch on 13ct.  The lessons are spaced farther apart due to our visiting teachers so it's going to be relaxed fun.

If you were on the fence for selecting the limited edition snap tray, here it is.  Soooooo fun.  I think this is my favorite one yet.  Of course mine is now filled with threads and I can't see his funny little face.  These are limited edition and only available to students in the class.  New class, new snap tray!

Perhaps you need a scissor fob for your Halloween stitching.  Check these out. Super cute and sparkly.  Orange or green eeek  charm on the bottom.  Beads in the middle are all different.  Ghosts, bumpy dots or beads that say Boo.  The choice is yours.  These are exclusive only to Halloween lovers so call to order yours.

Next class isn't until October but I'm sure I will find other fun things to post until then.

The Christmas Mystery Revealed

You never really know what is going to float my boat for a mystery class.  I try to keep them all different but still things I like.  Trust me that's hard.  I push you out of your comfort zone and sometimes I push me out of mine too :-)

So, now when you least expect it here's the totally whimsical, totally silly Holiday Mystery Class revealed!

This is a brand-spankin' new canvas from my very own line.  I really want to stitch this one.  Look at all those patterns.  Can you say beads?  and crystals?  and bling a ding ding.

And how can you look at those birds and not giggle?

So, if you are new to the mystery class game, here's how it's played.

Classes will be November 24, December 15, January 5 and 19  and February 2 Sunday afternoons from 1-3pm

You can sign up to come to class in person or to have us mail you the class in segments.  Each lesson is shipped the Tuesday after class is held.
Canvas design area is 11.75 x 9.5 handpainted on 18ct. Class cost is the price of the canvas plus $15 per lesson and the threads, beads etc. necessary for that lesson. The canvas cost for this design is $218.00.

You will need 14 x 16 stretcher bars.

No one knows what threads, stitches and accoutrements will appear in the class until the last minute.  That's part of the fun.

The total package

Next Sunday will be the first lesson of the Hal Mayforth mystery class Boo!

It's not too late to join us.  This little guy is a character!  Painted on 13ct he will be so fun to stitch.

As we are starting to think about Halloween it's time for Halloween themed stitching accessories.  Yesterday a Big Box O'Fun arrived from the one and only Carol Eix!  Halloween Twin Sets.

We have coordinating Snap Trays and Bead Snap Trays.  Can't decide which is the cutest.

And if that isn't enough we have embroidered project bags!  Spooky eyes and magical pumpkins.

Not enough adornment for your stitching yet?  OK, let's add to the total package Halloween Bead Soup Fobs!  Attach them to your scissors or to your Project Bag zipper for just the perfect touch.  Love them all.

Just in case you are thinking ahead to Turkey Day, we have turkey fobs too!

Boo!  Happy Saturday!

What an opportunity!!!

I couldn't resist.

There was just no stopping me.

I had to say yes, when Sandy Arthur suggesting offering her interpretation of Brenda Stofft's Wizard of Paws at the shop.

We will be the first shop to have this class and it's amazing.

Sandy Arthur is a great teacher.  She's so fun and so talented and so thorough, you just can't go wrong.

The cat is needle felted and to me, learning that from someone who knows what they are doing is worth it's weight right there.  How many times have you considered a canvas with an animal on it only to review the stitch choices to make it look real and say, nope not Basketweaving, Long and Short stitching that guy.  Now you will have a technique that will allow you to stitch an animal in a fun and quick way.  We will leave at the end of the first day with cats stitched! Then we can explore the wonderful stitch choices for the pumpkins and sky including, new threads that we haven't used before.

So what's the catch?  Well, the only weekend that we could coordinate our schedules and still be seasonally correct (Who wants a Halloween class in February?) was Thanksgiving weekend.  I know, some of you may have plans.  But, I'm hoping that others of you don't.  This is an amazing opportunity.

Class is Saturday and Sunday, November 30 and December 1st from 11-5.  So, you have all day Friday to rest up from the big dinner Thursday, do your cyber-shopping and then come relax with us for the rest of the weekend!

The class fee is $340 plus $375 for the kit including handpainted canvas by Brenda Stofft and all stitching supplies except stretcher bars.  The more people who sign up, the lower the class fee will go!  Grab a friend and join the fun.

See you soon.

I just couldn't stop myself

I was having so much fun stitching Blue Moon, our current mystery class, that I didn't want the fun to end.  Do you ever feel that way about a canvas?  Usually I hit the point where I want the canvas to be done, all the creative stuff is done.  We all know my attention span, once the decision making is goine I am ready to move on.  But this time I wanted more!  I couldn't stop myself.  I was having too much fun!

Yes, we all groused about the Turkey Work.  It's hard work, but his little face is so cute.   You just want to pinch those chubby cheeks.

In the final lesson we added his wings.  Now he can fly!

And the leaves, ooooh! the leaves.  They are a fun Satin Stitch pattern with beads.  You knew I had to add beads.

The white orbs in the sky are all beads too.  Just different applications of the beads.

Bashful is off to the framer.  He'll be home soon.

As this mystery class ends another will begin in two short weeks.  Boo!  Totally different, totally crazy.  Perfect for Halloween,

How cute is this?

DC Designs canvas stitched by Katey in Texas.  Katie and her mom visit for Brenda Hart classes.  We have a great time!

Of course Brenda selected the stitches and threads so they are magic.  The finished pillow is now on display in Katie's first apartment.

Stars and Stripes

I posted this fun project from EyeCandy last summer just in time for the 4th of July and now thanks to Catherine's stitching I am happy to share a finished model!

It's a small sparkly canvas perfect for celebrating our nation's birthday or just for showing your pride.

I hope you are having a happy and restful Labor Day.
