What a Surprise!

Sorry for the late post.  Yesterday was the third lesson of the Christmas Birds class. We covered a few more sections of the background.

I love these kinds of canvases where there are little areas of accomplishment along the road.  These are the kind I don't want to see end.

The purple and red sections have lots of beads.  You know I love that.  :-)  This is the same pattern and technique I used on the Pear Collage.  It's fun.  The background is filled with T Stitch or Diagonal Double Woven and the red circles and dots are beaded!

The lime green sections are a new pattern stitch that is filled with big Cross Stitches and Scotch Stitches and then embellished with sequins.  More sparkle!

And finally a little fun that harkens back to my days designing Counted Canvaswork.  The dark green square is filled with Amadeus Stitches. Pretty fun!

There's more to do but we're over halfway there.  Next class is in two weeks. Maybe its time for another birdie to be stitched.

Speaking of little birdies.  Check out this bird that Santa brought me.  He was made for this canvas!

Santa really did bring it to class himself.  What a treat!  There was a knock at the back door.  Okay, there was pounding on the back door during class, caused us all to jump.  Then I heard the sleigh bells.  We don't have a chimney so Santa had to knock.

We let him in and the fun exploded.  It was so worth it for those who ventured out in the rain yesterday.

Santa was full of spunk.  He has been traveling and delivering for days. Just like UPS And FedEx he had to extend his holiday schedule a little.

There were gifts and hugs and smiles.

The gifts were for the ladies in class and their beloved furry friends!  Special cats and dogs got loving Santa treats when mom came home from stitching yesterday.

What a treat!  Thank you santa for stopping by.  We were honored!

Here's the most special present from Santa.  A donation to a dog rescue fund in the name of Bedecked and Beadazzled!

It's going to be hard to top this day with lesson #4.  :-)

See you soon.

Santa Stopped by

Merry, merry.

Santa stopped by to say hi.  Isn't he cute?

I introduced this canvas this summer and Santa finally dropped off the stitchguide for the Silly Elf.  Wasn't that timely of him?

Santa also dropped off an assembly required present for the boys.  Richie had to supervise the assembly.  That is his official job title.  For a moment we were concerned that like all little ones he was more excited about the box than the resulting cat tree.

Once he figured out that this was the perfect, up high, perch he was a happy boy.  I almost thought he was going to forgive me for allowing the interloper, Dexter to move in.  That just garnered me a glare.

The tree is now in a perfect spot next to the sparkle of the Christmas tree.

The crossed paws pose cracks me up.  He's such a star.

As you can see, he even allows Max to share the space.

Thanks for indulging me and allowing me to post more kitty pics.

Happy Holidays everyone.

P.S.  Here's where I got the cat tree.  The refined feline

Blue Moon is framed

Have you looked at the weather out there? Yuk!  Here in Maryland it is just dismally gray.  Not sure that's the motivation I need to finish decorating the Christmas tree.

In the interest of bright and happy and fun, here's Blue Moon in its fun frame!

This canvas seems like a blur, it was two mystery classes ago.  Loved stitching it.  If you missed the class it's not too late to order a kit.

They're here! They're here!

Oh what an exciting day.

If you are on Facebook and part of Needlepoint Nation you may have noticed posts with the needlepoint of Stacy Connors.  Stacy has a look that is uniquely her own.

What's a Little Counting Between Friends

How about a fun little counted project just in time for the holidays?  Looking for a stocking stuffer for a needlepoint friend.  This could be just the ticket.

Kimberly Smith designed this quirky counted canvas piece to showcase Vineyard Silk and Vineyard Merino Wool both in the same color.

It's called Texture and Shine, such a fun way to see the difference in two threads both the same color.

We have kits prepackaged - precut 18ct canvas 8" x 8", needle, chart and two skeins of thread.

Yellow canvas with orange threads
Hunter green canvas with yellow threads
Orange canvas with teal threads
White sparkle canvas with pink or lime threads (we couldn't pick)
Ecru canvas with burgundy threads
Red canvas with hunter green threads

$20 for the kit.  It's a fun little weekend project.  You could even stitch it up in time for the holidays if you wanted.

Happy Stitching.

Inquiring Minds Want to Know

So, the question has arisen more than once, what's the next Mystery Class?  It really is time to let the cat, errr dog out of the bag :-)  Especially if we want canvases in time to stitch.

Our holiday mystery will run through the 2nd of February.

Our next mystery will begin February 16th and here it is.

Isn't this just the happiest piece?  It's going to be so fun.  The original art is by Michele Noiset, luv her work!  The painted canvas is from cbk needlepoint who licenses Michele.  cbk graciously agreed to have this painted exclusively for us.  So fun!

There will be 3 classes, February 16th, March 2 and 16th.  The design size is 7.75 x 11 handpainted on 18ct.  You will need 12" x 14" stretcher bars.

Call the shop at 410.296.0405 to sign up.  It's going to be fun and sparkly!

As always, you can sign up and come to class live and in person or you can sign up as an outpatient and have us ship shiny purple packages to your door.

She's baaaaack!

Kimberly Smith  (aka Kimberly Crum) and I go back a million years.  Back in the day we were both designing counted canvas work and being distributed by the same company.  Counted Canvaswork started to wane in popularity.  Time marched on, I started designing painted canvases, she moved a few times.  We always stayed in touch.

And now, a million years later, we are back together!  I am pleased to announce that Kimberly Smith is designing amazing needlepoint and I am distributing it!  You can order from your favorite LNS.  And if Bedecked and Beadazzled is your favorite LNS, you can order from us!  Here's the link for all currently available canvases.

Camel Flowers

Austintatious Peacock

Santa Up Close

Colorful Shapes Mini Sock

Sun and Snow Mini Sock

Just a few pieces to start.  There's much more to come.  Amazing things are at the painter and many of the canvases will have stitchguides!  That's really the magic of Kimberly.  When she stitches a piece, she looks at it in a way that is unlike anyone else.  She invents stitches to fill the spaces and charts them out so yours will look just as amazing.  Stay tuned and watch for more from Kimberly.

If you check out her blog in the next few days she will be posting her stitched interpretations of a few of these pieces.  Stitchguides are that much closer!

So glad we are still designing, stitching friends after all these years!

Stitcherie Games 2013

Stitcherie Games Viewers Choice 2013

Wow, how time does fly!  Thanks to the creative imagination of KB over on Stitcherie.com we launched a challenge in January 2013.

The rules were simple.  Grab a canvas from your stash with at least 10 areas to stitch.  Each month a new clue was released and participants were challenged to interpret the clue in relation to their piece.

The results were clever, oh so clever.

Here's the clues that had to be followed.
January - Shape Up
February - Cheese
March - Pearl
April - the Seven
May - Road Trip
June - Oh, Heavens!
July - Independence
August - Pie
September - Decorative Stitch
October -  Plant Fiber

Here's the results, the stitched canvases that showcase the clues.

Now it's time for the Viewer's Choice Award.  It's your turn to vote for your favorite stitched canvas.  Choose your favorite, click the button above the photo and the vote now button at the bottom of the page.  Let the games begin!  A winner will be announced on the 16th of December!
