It's All About The Big Bug

This weekend was a fabulously fun weekend with a very old friend.  Kimberly Smith and I go back a long time in this crazy industry.  To the early 90's.  We both got our start in counted canvas work and have been evolving ever since.

Kimberly arrived Friday to teach her spectacular Flying Jewels canvas.  It's a great canvas complete with a fun stitch guide.

Here we are after 25 years of friendship and art.

We had a full house.

We got a good bit of stitching done on different areas of the canvas, but it really is all about the big bug!  He is amazing!!!!

The borders are too fun!  This is the kind of thing that no one but Kimberly does.  Who would think to create this show stopper of a border from string art.  Once you get the rhythm of it it moves pretty fast and is really tons of fun.  It's so much more fun than stitching the entire background in the same stitch.

All the important stuff is carefully diagrammed so you just follow the numbers and the colors.  Next thing you know, yours looks like Kimberly's.  If you missed the class you can order a kit.  Just give us a call at 410.296.0405 or click here.

I love these flowers.  You know I love ribbon almost as much as beads :-)

And of course Kimberly had to sign our autograph board.  That's always a fun moment in class.

Thank you, Kimberly for coming to teach.  Thank you ladies for sharing your weekend with us.  Hope to see you all soon!

That goes for you too, little Monte.  He was such a good boy and a great class mascot.

And just in case you don't believe we have known each other for ages.  Here's proof.  Vintage early 1990's.

Can't believe I just posted that.

See you soon.

I'd laugh at the photo but then someone would post one of me (hello, Little Brother!) in grade school. It looks like a superb class, even if you two no longer do Big Hair.
