New from Me to You

As you may have noticed, my mind is a scary place.  Good scary.  A little of this, a little of that.  Somedays you just don't know which way I will Twirl.

And with that lead in, I share with you a few of my new designs to start 2015.

We have the Snow Fairy, ...

and her companion Jack Frost.
Both are available in the large size shown here 9 x 12 and a small 5 x 7-ish size.

Start thinking beads and crystals and you will have all the sparkly goodness I imagined for this pair.

Next up we have the Halloween Scroll Tree which was inspired as a Halloween companion to the Christmas Scroll Tree that I do love and want to finish stitching. (Yes, there are about 3 stitches on this one.)

And finally the canvas that epitomizes my state of mind......

Thanks for visiting.

Finishing Touches

Today we finished the Partridge Christmas Stocking by Tapestry Tent. It was a fun ride, and yes we really did stitch a stocking in no time at all!

The fluffy partridge was the last part to come to life.  It's really all about the threads - Fluffy Stuff and beads, a magical combination.  Look at his fat tummy.

The upper edge of the stocking is framed with two golden borders.  I didn't stitch the cuff on mine.  I have visions of fabric or fur to finish the top.  You could certainly add a name or phrase to finish yours.

Next up on my hit parade of stitching is the Melissa Shirley Christmas Village. We plan on shipping the next lesson of the class this week, then I am back to The Count.

Thanks for sharing my adventures.

It's time for something new

I am a creature of habit.  We all have our comfort zone.  For me it is color and lots of color.  The last several mysteries had me working outside of my comfort zone of color.

The Playful Squirrel by Sandra Vargas had browns and rusts,

the Haunted House had lots of dark and dull colors,

even the Partridge Stocking by Tapestry Fair is tame and traditional for me.

I pushed outside my comfort zone and am pleased with the results on all of the pieces but it did mean that I stitched slower.  Trust me, stitching with browns and grays does not motivate me.  It's hard for me to pick it up and stitch.  I found myself avoiding the project.  The brown tree on the stocking just about did me in.  Have you noticed, I don't stitch a lot of trees?

So, with the start of 2015 we are back to color.  Bright, happy, in your face color.

Oh don't worry, I will still keep you guessing.  That's what keeps me motivated.  What can we do with this canvas that is different?  Hmmmmm.  The wheels start turning and I play.

Our first new mystery class of 2015 is When In Doubt Twirl by Amy Bruecken.  Happy, bright colors.  It is painted on 13ct so it will be a quick two lesson stitch.  February 15th and March 8th.

After that we will move to one of my favorite Kimberly Smith designs.  Emma's Darling Bird.  I can't wait.  It is colorful and happy and while the bird is realistic, the rest is pure fantasy so we can play and stitch it however makes us happy without having to worry about reality.  Three classes for this one, March 22nd, April 19 and May 3rd.

As with all Mystery Classes you may attend in person or we will send you the instructions and supplies in installments.  Easy, peasy and lots of fun.

You can sign up online or by calling us at 410.296.0405.

Hope you will join the fun.

Not a day for walking this pup

It's rainy and gray here today so we need something bright and happy.

You know this little girl wouldn't go out in the rain.  She might get her fur wet.

Our Dog Walker Mystery Class canvas is back from the finisher and quite an elegant pillow.  Just enough whimsy to be fun but still sophisticated like the star of the show.

Since we always like options in our finishing, here it is as a standup and framed.
Hmmmm. So many choices.

Thank you, Angie and Sue for letting me share your art.

If you are interested in stitching this little pup, he is available complete with stitch guide.  Give us a call at 410.296.0405 or click here to order.

And there was singing....

No dancing, but singing.

Which is a very special thing on class day.  One just never knows what is going to happen in the store with the lime green walls.

Today was the forth class in the Partridge Christmas Stocking Mystery Class.

I'm not really sure how it happened but the ladies started singing today.  First one then another.  It was just fun and silly.  Fun and silly are good.

In between the musical interludes we stitched pears!  Big sparkly beaded, crystalized yummy pears!

Lots of fun new stitches were invented to fill the spaces on this canvas.

We're in the home stretch.  One more lesson and the stocking is fini!  Next lesson is in two weeks.

See you soon.

Oh my, how fun is this!

Sometimes life throws a person in your path that you know is magic.

And sometimes that magic is a new artist for fabulously fun needlepoint canvases.

Welcome to the fun world of designs by lulu mypinkturtle.

Yes, you read me right, her name is lulu mypinkturtle.  I really do just love saying that.  It's fun.  It makes me smile.

And then you see her art.  It's quirky and oh so fun to stitch.  Look at all the patterns ad spots for embellishment.  Yes, we have guides in the works for some of these.  Pictures are coming..... Of course you could also just basket weave them to your hearts content.

All are available on the website here.

Could someone please give me a few more days in the week so that I could stitch more?  Tonight I think I want to stitch the red haired with with her cat.  Love the polka dot clouds.

Oh wait, maybe I really want to stitch the girl with the sun shining on her hair with the birds.

Or maybe I should just stitch the pink sassy girl with her cat.  You know that's my alter ego right?

Whichever I choose it will be a blast!

Thanks for visiting.
