Cats and Pumpkins

Another lesson of the Count has flown the bat cave.  We're moving now.  Two more lessons to go!

This lesson included the cat and the stacked pumpkins.

The leaves below the pumpkins are beaded.  The pumpkins themselves are always a challenge.  I want the shading to show through so we need open stitches.  But the pumpkins are small!  In this scenario I used three related stitches moving from smallest at the top to largest at the bottom and also darkened my orange thread with each pumpkin.  The size of the stitch and the color change helps add that depth to the design I'm always looking for.

The Wire Lace tendril is super cute and super easy!  Love big impact for next to no work.

I'm stitching as fast as I can on this and other Mystery Classes.  Too much to do and not enough time. You know that saying.  If you would like to see the progress of The Count start to where we are now, click here, and scroll down a few entries.  And if you would like to join the fun, it's never too late.  Give us a call at  410.296.0405 or order online here.  We'll get you caught up with the lessons that have shipped and you will be in line for the last two!

Thanks for visiting.

The Golden (Pink) Ticket!

If you are a Honeybee, watch your mail.  We sent parcels out yesterday!

Just a little treat so you would know you are loved and appreciated and we were thinking of you.

But wait, the real fun are the pink tickets inside.  Four of the parcels have an extra surprise inside.  Four lucky Honeybees will win an extra treat!  I don't know who will get them and can't wait to hear. Hope you win big!

There were just a few labels.

Megan and I were being just a little silly.  She's our dancing girl.

Have a great weekend.

Friends of Our Family

Is this not the most incredible Charley Harper canvas?  It's filled with all of our friends and fur babies!

Julia Snyder and I collaborated on the stitch guide for this canvas and it's amazing!  Love all the stitches and the details.

The canvas is 24" x 21" stitch painted on 18ct mono.  The threads are an array of Petite Very Velvets, every fuzzy thread you can think of, metallics, beads and more.

If you would like us to order this canvas for you, give us a call at 410.296.0405 or order here.

See you soon.

Card Tricks

Today was the first lesson of the Sitting Pretty Mystery Class featuring the super cute cat canvas from cbk.

You know I like to try to keep you guessing as to what I will do with the canvas.  What no one saw coming in this lesson is that I didn't stitch the background first!  Hah!  Gotcha with that one.  I almost always do the background first, but this time I had other plans.

I really, really wanted to stitch the cat first.  I wanted him to be fuzzy and fun.  He is orange and purple striped after all.

His tail is worked in the repousse technique.  This is what everyone did in class today.  It was challenging and different.  It's not really hard, just different.  It uses different parts of your brain.  We all agreed at the end of class it was well worth the effort.

You begin by attaching several lengths of perle cotton and memory thread to your canvas.  You need lots of thread hanging on the front of your canvas.

Next you anchor your wrapping thread under the tail.  You need to keep all the thread on the front of the canvas; you are just sinking the tails of the thread enough to secure them.  Now you wrap!  This is the card trick;  don't cut the thread from the cards, just start moving the cards around and around the cords wrapping stripes down the length of the tail.  Repeat with the second color.

Once the wrapping is complete, sink the ends of the cords etc at the tip of the cat's tail.   Tack in place and secure everything on the reverse.  Voilá super fluffy, cool tail.

Everyone's tail is a little different.  Mine essentially matches what was painted.  Others wrapped more allowing for a little extra curve at the tip.  Every tail looked adorable!

The rest of the cat is pretty straightforward.  Just the magic of great threads.

The table cloth is lacy and sweet and check out the candle sticks.  The magic of Petite Frosty Rays creates the perfect candle drips.

Since this was the first class of a new mystery, I had the fun of unveiling the matching limited edition snap tray and the matching scissor fob.  You know I love my accessories.

Two weeks until the next class.  More fun is planned. See you then.

Limited Edition

I admit it.  I'm the kind of girl that if you tell me something is no longer available or is about to be discontinued, I have to have it.

I know I will want it later.

I need it now!

Let's not talk about my collection of vintage swarovski that has been years in the making.  It sparkles.  It makes me happy.  You won't tell, will you?

So, in keeping with that vein.  Here you go.

Limited Edition from Zecca.  She only has a very, very few of these.  So, if you want the canvas and embellishment pack for $120 (threads additional) call us now 410.296.0405 or send me an email sales@bedeckedandbeadazzled.com.

If you were part of our Fabulous Frippery club this makes a great addition!

Happy Friday!

Can I have a Favorite?

Every time I stitch one of the ladies in the Row of Ladies Mystery Class, I swear she is my favorite :-)

I know a mother shouldn't have a favorite but what can I say?   Each one is cuter and more fun than the one before it.

The third lady is complete and shipped late last week.  Some of you even had a visit with her for Mother's Day!

All the ladies stitch quickly.  I love creating their dresses.  We have a new stitch for the dark green area and lots of fluffy trims to give her dimension.  You know I love the pinks and limes together.

Here's the first three girls all glammed up and ready to party.

The trim at the top of her cape is simply ruched Neon Rays+.  How easy is that for big effect.

And of course there had to be ribbons and beads for the flowers in her hair!  Her hair is needle weaving and it looks just like a fancy braided hairstyle would!

She's back at the end of the Mystery with a Twist rotation for me.

Today I'm working on the first class for Sitting Pretty.  Class is this Sunday.  Wait until you see what I have in store for you!  Too cute. Makes me giggle every time I look at it.  Then it's back to the Count.  My poor bat has been languishing.  Too much too do and not enough hours in the day!

See you soon.

Fini

As Kimberly would say the Darling Bird is Fini.  Well, almost Fini.  I still have purple borders to do and you know how long thats going to take me.

We had the final lesson of this Mystery Class on Sunday.  All the fun little details are in place and the piece has truly come to life.

The colors in this piece are exuberant.  They make me happy.  They are tiny details.

The neon orange beads in the border flowers just make them sing.  You could leave them out but with them in place wowza!

The beaded centers on these Jessicas are hot pink surrounded with a bright orangey red Petite Silk LamĂ© Braid.  If you want to do this, do the center first with the beads and then surround them with stitches.  Much easier.

The big flowers are super fluffy now.  We started with a basic Satin Stitch of ribbon and then worked loops of Petite Frosty Rays in the center.  Super easy.  Big impact.

This canvas was lots of fun to stitch.  It had all the components of a perfect canvas for me.  Happy colors.  Lots going on so I didn't have to do too much of any one thing.

If you would like to have us kit this and send it your way, you know we are happy to.  You can order it here, or give us a call at 410.296.0405.

My mind is already on the next Mystery Class.  We start the CBK cat, Sitting Pretty, in less than two weeks.  Good thing I know what I want to do.  There are lots of surprises tucked into this one.

See you soon.
