Bedecked and Beadazzled Frequent Flyer Program

OOH!  I love being able to announce good things.  Things that will truly make you happy.

I've been working behind the scenes with one of my programmers to come up with a solution that will help take some of the sting out of shipping.

I have talked to many of you about shipping and most people are completely on board with how we operate.  We are a UPS shipper.  For most of you that is what works.  You know you will get your package in a timely safe manner.

We only use the postal service for the tiniest of orders.  Why you ask?  Yes it is cheaper but it is a quality issue.

We have continual issues with the postal service that aren't going away.  This is both for incoming and outgoing mail. They tell our vendors that things have been delivered when they haven't.  Packages arrive damaged and folded and squished!  When we ship out and things go missing they do not stand behind our claims even with insurance!  They seem to feel that being delivered to the dead letter office is an acceptable delivery destination and that until they confirm it isn't there, which could be years later, it isn't really lost.

We have been looking for a solution that will lower the cost to you but at the same time not eat up our entire day tracking packages and reshipping products that cost us money.

Please allow me to introduce the Bedecked and Beadazzled Frequent Flyer Program.  How it works is really simple.  We continue to do what we do best, creating exciting projects, filling orders and shipping them your way.  We continue to use the shipper that is the most reliable, UPS.  You pay the shipping costs on 6 UPS orders and the 7th is on us!!!

So, if you are in lots of clubs and classes you will quite often see a note on your receipt that says YAY!  Shipping is on us.

And as an extra added bonus we have back dated the program a couple of months and some of you are already eligible for free shipping!  YAY!

Happy Monday!

Meredith Willett was here!

Need I say more?

Two days of fun and creativity from the one and only Meredith.  The visits are always too short.

We had quite an eclectic collection of canvases to challenge Meredith with this time.  Unfortunately some photographed better than others.

Check out the claws on this eagle!!

The vase in the center of this Melissa Shirley canvas is a show stopper.  The flower petals are individually made.  Love that.  And look at the fun embellishment on the neck of the vase.

Sometimes you just need a photo of a really pretty new stitch.

This is such a special piece.  Every dog lover knows what it's like to be welcomed home by their best friends.  Check out the background and the fun new stitch combination for the shirt!  Too fun.

Meredith's take on the Witches' Corsets has lots of fun ribbon techniques.

We all love it when Meredith demonstrates her ideas.
This Zecca Backgammon board is going to be awesome when finished!

The background of the board is a large Brick Stitch worked using 2 strands of Floche.
Simple and elegant.

The tree on this Peter Ashe canvas is simple long stitches of Watercolors couched in place.
Let the thread do the work!

Pumpkins can be a challenge to find the perfect stitch for.  Not when Meredith is in charge.
Long Stitches of Pearl Cotton for padding and strings of beads to make the pumpkin sing!

 This is classic Jane Juel.
Rhodes Stitches for the grapes and a fabulous new pattern for the side borders.  Love the stitch.

Look who came to visit her Aunties :-)  My girl Graffiti.  Love her and her mom!

Thanks for stopping by.  It's always fun at the beehive.

Bubbles and Borders

So much fun!  I just started this canvas and I'm already loving it.  Yesterday was the first lesson of the Wild Salmon Mystery Class and I had surprises for everyone.  You know I love surprises.  It's always good to keep you guessing what I will do next.

The canvas is by Teresa Layman and is bright and colorful.  Love that.

Lots of fun areas for stitches.  Love that too.

We focused on the outer border first, stitching the stripes.

Next up was the black background.  It is filled with little waves and bubbles from our fishies' mouths.

The really fun surprise is the addition of the outside border.  Little checkered ribbon sewn in place!  Uh oh!  Another use for all the pretty ribbon I have on my shelves.

And of course with all of our mystery classes there is a matching snap tray by Carol Eix to corral your threads and keep them neat.  Each one is cuter than the next.  I love the green trim on this one.  Thanks, Carol.

Three weeks until the next class.  We have canvases in stock if you would like to join the fun.  Give us a call at 410.296.0405 or order online.

Fruit Bowl

Woo Hoo!  Talk about a fun project.  I really just want to spend 2 more days stitching this one and finishing it.  It's crazy fast!

We had a lovely weekend stitching this brand new ellen giggenbach canvas and it was just so fun.  A great group of ladies joined us and we have more kits to send to our long distance friends.

It's not too big 9.75 x 9.25 hand painted on 18ct.

It's very bold and graphic so it lends itself to stitches that are equally bold.

My first decision was the background.  What could I do to make that fun and exciting?  hmmm, the canvas was laying on my striped Kate Spade laptop case when inspiration struck!  STRIPES!  How cool is that? You never know where a design inspiration will come from.

A plan was born.  Stripes in the background.  Stripes on the fruit. Now I'm excited!

I developed fun new striped stitches for the pear and the orange so that they would be
A.  stripey
B.  bold and graphic.  I needed big stripes
C.  In the case of the orange look round in addition to striped.
Pretty fun concept if I say so myself.

The bowl was another challenge, since it is curved and has a pattern on it.  It needed stitches that were non directional.

And of course since it is me, while it doesn't have beads it does need to have vintage swarovski crystals.  What fun would it be without them?

If you would like to stitch your very own fruit bowl, give us a call at 410.296.0405 or order on-line here.  We love shipping packaged fun to you.

Bunnies and Reindeer join the fun

Ta Dah!  Lesson #6 of the Melissa Shirley Christmas Village has flown the coop!  We knew we had to face the snow sometime.  So this is the lesson.  Miles and miles of the white fluffy stuff.

Once that was behind us we could play with the reindeer.   Reindeer games are always fun.

And the bunnies.  Oh, I loved the bunnies.  Small and fluffy and white, each playing with their own Christmas ball.

So here we are a year later and the 6th lesson of the Melissa Shirley Christmas Village has shipped.  I promise it won't be another year before the final lesson.  I am getting caught up.  At least I think I am getting caught up.  The move was a very good thing.

If you would like to join the Melissa Shirley Christmas Village class and have us send you all the pieces and parts, we are happy to.  We have canvases in stock.  You can order on-line here or give us a call at 410.296.0405.
