New in the land of lime green walls....

It's summer and everyone is on vacation. Well, almost everyone.  :-)

We're here polishing the new website to make your shopping experience easier and more fun.  We have plenty of surprises in the wings.  While we wait I thought I would show you a few new canvases that I have added to my line.

This is our new mermaid triptych.  Isn't she cute.  You can order all three canvases or just stitch one.  Depends upon your wall space.

Recognize this?  We had this stitched and hanging in the shop.  It's really cool.  On 13ct it makes quite the statement.  On 18ct it would make a fabulous bolster pillow.

Two new nutcracker standups ready to add an air of elegance to your christmas decor.  I love that they both have animals.

Perfect for basketweave or a large open stitch this tulip is one of my favorites.

All are in-stock and available either online by clicking here, or by simply calling us at 410.296.0405.

Happy Wednesday!

So much creativity

This weekend we were fortunate to host Marjorie Garcia Barnes for one of her last teaching engagements in the US.  She is moving to China in a month!  YIKES!

Good news, she will be back.  We are already talking about class next July.

Marjorie is brilliant.  That's just all there is to say. She has been designing jewelry since she was a young girl and each piece is not only beautiful but it is fun and dramatic and uses all sorts of interesting techniques.  You don't have time to get bored with any of these pieces.

She is so giving of her knowledge.  It's a joy to be around her.

So many of these techniques can apply to needlepoint too.

On Saturday we learned the basic techniques to make our own versions of Marjorie's Queen of Hearts Necklace.  Yep, more bead embroidery.  Watch out.  I am loving this technique.  It's bound to be showing up in more of my needlepoint.

Both of these necklaces are Marjorie's.  Same design but so different.

We learned how to mount the beautiful hand painted cabochons.

This is mine.

and Jamie's.

We learned how to bezel fancy crystals.

On Sunday, we went in an entirely new direction.  We learned how to make these little lovelies.  We could make fish or hearts or anything in between.

She taught us how to make bezels and work with crystal clay to fill them and embellish them with all sorts of pretty sparkles.

Ok, so fire is still not my friend but I get the idea.

By the end of the day we were pretty far along.

Mine is wearable as is, but there's a lot more fun stuff to be added!

We learned the basics of bead stringing and crimping beads too.

As if that wasn't enough, we also had the add on opportunity to make this fun little necklace.

It's the same technique as the heart/fish necklace but created in a pre made bird bezel.  The crystal clay holds all the pretty beads and rhinestones in place.

We even patina'd our own charms.

Whew!  That's a lot in two days.  I'm happy and feeling creative.   We had a wonderful weekend of playing, creating and learning.  Thank you everyone who came.

Thank you Marjorie for coming and being the so good at what you do.

xo and big hugs.

Row of Ladies is ready for their next reveal

Row of Ladies II now has a background!  Yay!  I know, you really wanted another lady but then we would have sooooo much background to do at the end.  I just can't bring myself to do that or do it to you.

So, just to change things up a bit, and keep you guessing, I have changed the background on row of ladies II.  It is a companion to the stitch I created for Row of Ladies I.  Same combination of threads and beads, but a slightly different look.  Fun idea to play with.

Kits for lesson #4 are being packed and will be shipping in the next few days!

If you would like to join the Row of Ladies Mystery with a Twist class, give us a call at 410.296.0405 to sign up or order online on our Mystery Classes page!  We will send you the canvas with stitch guide and supplies for the first 4 lessons of the project.  From that point on you will be in the queue receiving a new lesson each time one is released.

Now we return to our regularly scheduled programming of stitching the girls.  Yay!  We're back in the rotation.  I

Everyone loves Laurel Burch canvases and this one is truly spectacular!

When Brenda Hart was here a few weeks ago we put our heads together to write the guide for Embracing Horses and it looks so fun to stitch!

Knowing how beautifully Wild Horses turned out when Brenda guided it, I can only imagine this will be another show-stopper.

Our super talented ellen giggenbach designed this fun Folk Art Bird canvas called New Bird.

And yet another wonderful thing happened..... Joyce Stow stitched it and said we could show it off!

Yay team.  It took a village but we got it done!

Deeee lightful!

That's what Karen from ZECCA said when she saw the stitched bunny today!

He is a cutie.

Today was the second lesson of the Run Bunny Run Mystery Class.  With the background complete, we moved on to stitching the bunny. He is a wonderful bright white, stitched using the new Rainbow Gallery Capri.  Outlined all in metallic, with a sweet smile, he is definitely on his way somewhere hoppy!

There are 4 weeks until the next lesson.  Plenty of time to get caught up.   If you would like to join us, give us a call at 410.296.0405 or order online here.

I'm excited to get busy on the flowers.  They definitely call my name :-)

But before I do that I have kits to pack for the next lesson of Row of Ladies II.  My plan is for that to ship the week of June 20th!  Yes another long awaited lesson will be winging its way to it's forever home.

Fun stuff all around.
