Artemis, Oh Artemis!

Check this out!  I am totally in love with this guy.  Talk about embellishing needlepoint and taking it to the next dimension.

Artemis was designed and stitched by Brenda Stofft.  OH MY is he cool.  From the tips of his needle felted ears, to his cute little vest with silk ribbon embroidery, to the basket on his back filled with all kinds of treasures, he is a show stopper.

We have invited Brenda to teach him for us next year.  This is definitely a class with a little bit of everything plus the kitchen sink.  Just look at all the things you will learn. If you work hard in class you will leave with his little head complete so that you are assured your bunny will look just as cute as Brenda's.  What?  Did I just say you would finish something in class?  Yep, it is just his head but even that is a huge accomplishment.

Save the dates March 3-5, 2017.  Spaces are filling fast!  We can't do ghosts for this class, sorry.

We require a $300 non refundable deposit to save your spot.

Give us a call if you can join us.

So Much Sparkle!

This may be it!  My sparkliest piece ever!

This is a year that needs love and sparkle.  Glitter is good too.

Thanksgiving weekend is always a  fun weekend at Bedecked and Beadazzled.  A weekend of friends and stitching.

This year I chose a Tapestry Fair canvas as the weekend project.  It's called Christmas Abstract and its bright and happy and sparkly!!!

It's not too big, only 10 x 10 on 18ct and filled with wonderful colors! All of my favorite colors. We used lots of Petite Silk Lamé Braid and sequins and more sequins and Swarovski crystals and beads.

There's still a lot more beads to be added to this but you get the idea.

Each candle, ornament or snowflake is it's own little gem to stitch.  It's really a lot of fun.

Wish you were here to share the weekend with us.  Maybe next time.

If you would like a fun stitch for under the Christmas tree, give us a call and we'll send this right out.

Beaches, mermaids and seashells

I'm dreaming of sunshine and it's not even Winter yet.

How can I not be, when I look at this little mermaid.  She's such a pretty little mermaid with her mercat.

Designed by lulu mypinkturtle and taught as a mystery class last summer, La Sirena and her mercat make me happy, really happy!

This version belongs to Flora's granddaughter.  How cute is it???

She is available kitted if you would like to add a little sunshine to your life, and she's a quick stitch.

Give us a call 410.296.0405 and we'll send her your way or order on-line here.

P.S.  Spoiler alert.....  We are going to stitch another  lulu canvas for our January mystery.  Stay tuned for the announcement.

There's a Twinkle In His Eyes

Here we go!  The first lesson of Determining Naughty or Nice by our newest artist, David Galchutt was today!

This is a super beautiful painting of Santa.  You may be wondering what was I thinking, selecting something with so many details for a mystery class.  It has to be done all in basketweave right?  Nope!  Not here.  I have lots of fun stuff planned for this guy and first up was his face.

We need to keep the twinkle in his eyes.  That's what makes him magical.

If you know me, you know my aversion to Basketweave.  I just don't have the attention span for it.  I like to cover ground quickly and see my canvas come to life.  So, lets do a stitch on Santa's face!   I did and it works beautifully.  It is all stitched in 100/3 by Au Ver a Soie.  One of my favorite threads!

His nose must be jolly and red and puffy.  Thank you make up pads.

Yes, his gloves are basketweave with a few wayward stitches thrown in because I wanted just the right angle.  They really needed to be solid and come forward on the canvas. I didn't want to muddle the lines between his fingers, so basketweave it was.  If they were mittens, you know it would have been a stitch.  Yes, I had mom stitch his gloves you would have been waiting months for me to finish that detail.  I did the darkest color.  Does that count?

You know I love my go withs!  We have yummy snap trays;  thank you Carol Eix.  These are super simple but one of my favorite trays.  We still have a few if you want to grab one to go with your canvas.  If there are any left at the end of the class they will be available for non Santa students.

We even have pretty Christmas fobs that look so seasonally appropriate on Sajou scissors. (Note:  If you want to put this fob on these scissors, let us know, it's tricky.  Once attached they aren't coming off.)

We have more canvases arriving at the end of the month, so if you would like to join us give us a call at 410.296.0405 or sign up online here.  You really don't want to miss stitching Santa over Christmas do you?

P.S.  In other news....  The start of Santa Fe Felines has been delayed until early December.  Two major items are on backorder.  One was ordered in August so you would think it would be here by now.  Sigh, the price we pay for really cool stuff.

Why Fit In is in process and a new lesson of that will ship around the beginning of December too!  It's going to be a big month.  I'm getting caught up on everything.  Thank you all for your patience.  We'll get these three treasures flowing smoothly.

Flying Jewels - Cyber Class

Flying Jewels is one of Kimberly's most exciting pieces.  Yes, I love them all but this one is really, really special.

We offered it as a class two years ago in the shop and now we are offering it as a cyber class!  The more people who can share in the opportunity to stitch this piece and learn Kimberly's techniques the better!

It features a wonderful counted pattern background and borders.

There’s a wide variety of threads and oh!  the dragonfly has copper wings!  Love that!  Hand painted on 18ct mono, the overall design size is 12 x 12.

Classes will be Feb 16, March 3, March 17 and 31st from the comfort of your own stitching chair.  No need to travel for this one!  Kimberly will be hosting a virtual stitch-in throughout the day and evening on those dates. Ask questions, share your progress, enjoy the company of others.  There may even be videos and prizes.  You never know what we will cook up.

The cost of the class including canvas, stitchguide and all threads is $495.00.  You will need 16 x 16 stretcher bars.  If you already own the canvas and want to join the class there is an option for that too!  Give us a call at 410.296.0405 to sign up.  Registration closes Christmas Eve!

I love these flowers.  You know I love ribbon almost as much as beads :-)

See you soon.

Goldwork with Meredith

Wow, what an exciting two days we have had.  The one and only Meredith Willett was here to teach gold work.

Goldwork is the art of embroidery using metal threads.  It is always surface embroidery.

This is a piece of Meredith's that is simply stunning.

On day one there were lots of demos.

Chipping is right up my alley; It involves cutting little pieces of real metal and sewing them on like beads.  Yummy, look.

I love the look of real metal threads coiled with a pretty colored silk.

Day two was design day.  Pick an image and with the help of Meredith create a plan to transform it into a beautiful example of goldwork.

Everyone had a great time, learned a lot and came away with a new found appreciate of the art.

If you ever have the chance to take this class with Meredith it is a must have!

Today we begin two days of embellishment classes. You know what that means..... eye candy.

See you soon.

This Just In for the Holidays

Yes, it's true.  The Melissa Shirley Christmas Village Mystery with a Twist is finished!!!  Yay!

It's been a long journey but I do love all the little touches throughout the canvas.  I saved all the trees and wreaths for last so it really was like decorating the village.

If you missed this as an ongoing class we are always happy to kit it up for you.  You can order here, or give us a call at 410.296.0405.
