Wish you were here

Zecca Retreat is almost here!   Karen arrived today so we will spend tomorrow with final prep work and playing! and of course brainstorming what's new and what's next!

We will see all you lovely ladies who are signed up for class on Saturday morning and then 2 days of fun and frivolity as we bring the Close Friends canvas to life.  Just wait until you see what I have done with it.  I think you will be quite pleased. :-)

To give you a sneak peek, here are the oh so pretty threads.....  Yummy!

I'll post more pictures after the weekend.  If you would like a kit, just give us a call at 410.296.0405.

Karen brought some goodies with her.  She is no longer making her polymer class accessories so what we have is all there is.  When they are gone, they are gone.  I love these pieces.  This was the focus of zecca's fun line when I first met her :-)

Laying Tools

Scissor Fobs

 Eyeglass lanyards

Another fun treat we have are wooden laying tools by Karen's son.  Very cool, beautifully turned wood in a myriad of colors.  Some are all wood and some are wood with BLTs.

Give us a call if anything speaks to you.  Wish you were here.

Kimberly's Magic Carpet Ride

Kimberly and I have been friends for a very long time and still after all these years I am in complete awe of how her mind works.  It is just so different from mine.  She truly has her own voice and looks at the world in a special way.

When she sent me the stitch guide for Magic Carpet all I could say was wow!  She hasn't stitched Magic Carpet with all the fun stitches she picked but wow! and again, WOW!  I'm in love with it.  The colors make me happy.

Look at all these pretty threads and beads!

Magic Carpet started as a painted carpet in Kimberly's studio.

Don't you just want one of your very own?  Take a ride on a magic carpet to a place all sunny and happy.

One of Kimberly's clients did just that.  She hired her to paint the magic carpet on her wall!

And so it begins - from floor, to wall to canvas to bench cover.

Magic Carpet is available on 18ct (20" x  13") with a fabulous stitchguide or 13ct count (27" x 17") to stitch in basketweave.

Kimberly has stitched the 13ct version all in Waverly Wool for a seat cushion.  She stitched it so quick.  The colors are just so happy, how could you put it down?

And.... drumroll please.... we have two other fun canvases from Kimberly.

Crop Circles painted on 18ct. 14" x 11"

Tumbled 8" x 8" painted on 18ct.  Kimberly stitched this one all in basketweave too.

Give us a call at 410.296.0405, or order online at the links above if you would like any of these gems sent your way.

Happy Monday everyone.

The eyes tell the story

No one does eyes like Sandra Vargas.  Each one of her canvases whether human or animal has big beautiful eyes that draw you in.  It works, I love them all. I'm hooked!

 And Aquamarine!

In other news, Zecca Retreat is next weekend!  I can't wait to share that with you.  Talk about a canvas that has changed and come to life with each passing stitch.  Wow.  I hope you love it as much as I do.

Hoppy Easter!

The Easter Bunny came and brought my zecca Run Bunny Run canvas framed!  Woo Hoo!

How perfect was his timing?

Our pretty bunny is hanging on the wall at the beehive ready for everyone to see at zecca retreat and future classes.  It sure does sparkle.  Remember all those crystals and the background covered in sequins :-)  I am a girl who loves her sparkle.

I love this frame.  It looks like whipped cream!

This is one happy hare.  We had so much fun stitching him in our summer mystery last year.

Angie had her bunny finished as a standup block.  How charmng is this?

If you've been thinking about stitching this sweet boy, now is the time.  We are offering 10% off all completed mystery classes through the end of April 2017.  What a way to celebrate our anniversary!
You can order here, or give us a call at 410.296.0405.

Happy Easter.

He can fly!

Our little hummingbird can fly!  So sweet.

Today was lesson three of the zecca hummingbird class.  It's all about direction and how changing the direction of your stitch can add depth and dimension.
The hummingbird was brought to life.  I loved stitching him.  He took no time at all.  Beads, beads, a few sequins, a little thread and more beads.  Here's the cool part.  Even though he is almost completely beaded he doesn't look heavy.  He still looks like a little tiny bird in flight.  Magic!  It's all about the size of the beads and the angle!  Bigger beads for his body, smaller beads for his tail feathers.  Pretty clever, no?

The flowers are sweet and pink, just a little pattern.  Changing the direction of the stitch causes the petals to separate one from the next!  YAY!  I do love it when a plan comes together.

Here it is all together.  Next up will be the leaves, lots and lots of green leaves.  We'll change them up and make them fun too.  See you in May for the big reveal.

In the meantime I will be finishing up the class project for zecca retreat and working furiously on Why Fit In.  Wait until you see what's next.  I'm in love!  As soon as a lesson of that is complete we are back to Row of Ladies.  I know they all went off track as I was juggling too many things.  I'm feeling like things are getting into a routine so let's keep the positive energy going. You've been very patient.
