The way

The way is not the sky.

The way is the heart.

 -- Buddha

Beautifully styled by zecca.  What a wonderful housewarming or wedding present this would make.

The limited color palette really makes it so timeless.  The beads, ribbons and fluffy threads make it fun.

The elves have stitched this following our stitchguide and it's back from the framer and hanging in our classroom.  We think that's the perfect place as that is the room filled with love.

Thank you Karen and the elves for another fabulous design.

If you would like your own Buddha canvas, here's the link.  Or give us a call at 410.296.0405.

From Life to Sketch

... To Needlepoint

Kimberly Santini is one of our artists.  I have loved her work since day one.  I found her on the internet and bought one of her paintings.

"You Are My Sunshine, A Lesson Painting, Part II of II" original fine art by Kimberly Santini

You Are My Sunshine, 2011

It reminded me of Max when he was a kitten :-)  Love big kitty ears.

Over the years I have had her paint sketches of the boys.

She captures their hearts in her paintings.  I love the colors, love everything about them.

Johnny is being painted now, he needs his formal family picture too.  I'll share it when its ready.

In the meantime, our adventure continue.  Stay tuned for new needlepoint canvases from Kimberly.  We have birds!!!

Pirate Spider!

OMG!  Check out that spider.  He has amused me since the start of this canvas and now at the he is even sillier.  What can I say?  Every skeleton wearing a witch hat needs a spider dressed like a pirate  :-)

Today was the final lesson of the David Galchutt Boo! Mystery Class.  There's a lot going on in this canvas and it is all so fun.  If you aren't already part of the fun and would like a complete kit, give us a call at 410.296.0405 or order online here.

The spider web is now complete.  Super easy thanks to the perfect color of Kreinik Metallic Threads.

Our little spider friend has curly fun legs.  I've even created my first video to show you how I did it.  This will help my long distance visual learners.  If you like this, I will try to do more.

And we have a video for the spider's antennae.  This is the corkscrew stitch.  Love this stitch for all the dimension it adds.

Here he is, almost finished.  Just need to finish the beading and he's off to the framer.

Now I am finishing the next lesson of Santa Fe Felines and getting ready for the Hare and the Crow class Thanksgiving weekend.  See you soon.

It's Finishing Friday

I love boxes of finishing!  So many pretty things.  It always inspires me.

I love this finishing of La Sirena by lulu mypinkturtle.  It went to a very special little girl from her grandmother Flora.

Wendy stitched Lani's Aloe pillow using Brenda Hart's guide and now it resides in her brother's
Manhattan apartment.

Jill did an amazing job on Maelba from Sandra Vargas.  I love the feathers on top of the stand up!

Carmen from Melissa Shirley is another piece of Jill's stitching.  It just makes me happy to look at it.

I'm putting the finishing touches on class for Sunday.  See you then.

Ooh La La!

What talented stitchers I know!

We came together this weekend for an Embellishment Extravaganza.  Two days of stitching together, giggling and having fun.

Everyone selected their own canvas;  I wrote the guides and the games began.

There was the Faerie Fish with her beautiful skirt,

and the Faerie Rider with leaves on her shirt.

Eleanor Grosch's tiger is super special and a crazy quick stitch.

I'm in love with the little gray kitty by Rebecca Walk.  So soft and sweet.

The Stylin Siamese uses lots of beads and light thread work. It's going to be gorgeous.

OMG!  I designed the stitches for Lani's shoes to match my fantasy shoes.  So pretty.

Auntie Chicken by Brooke Connor is a tour of silliness.
Lots and lots of fun happy colors and threads.

ellen giggenbach's pretty bunch is so sweet.  Lots of fun flowers here.

Last but not least is zecca's Home is not a place its a feeling.

We had a great time.  I can't wait to see some of the canvases finished.  Thank you all for coming.

Next Embellishment Extravaganza is January 5-7, 2018.
We still have a few spaces so check your calendar and hope for no snow.
