Sparkle!!

It's time to Sparkle!  And how better to sparkle than with beading classes with Liisa Turunen.  YAY!

Liisa has been here several times and she is a total delight.  We have so much fun.

Join us February 2-4 for three fun days of classes.  Pick your day or days and your projects and prepare to be amazed at the pretty things we can make!

Friday February 2, 11-5pm  Encore Necklace

Liisa designed this sparkly crystal loaded piece for a Metallica concert. It has become her favorite go to piece for even casual events and she rocks it with a t shirt and jeans most the time.

This piece includes a combination of  6 different Swarovski shaped stones ranging from 12mm-33mm. It’s a fun piece that can be made with different layouts;  they don't all have to be big and flashy.  You will learn lots of techniques that can be used in future pieces.

Class cost is $375 and includes the complete kit, lunch and dessert.
Kit will be available in  3 colorways

Saturday February 3, 11-5pm  Bracelet Bonanza

I can never decide which of Liisa's bracelets is my favorite so you win!  We have Bracelet Bonanza.

On Saturday February 3rd, you pick your favorite bracelet.
Deep Sea Diamonds
Available in 3 colorways Bronze & Jade, Nickle & Lavender, and Platinum & Rose Gold

Rows of large pearls encased with bead work create the base of this bracelet. Working in textured layers capture Swarovski chatons for that glitter of light. Students will work in a combination of several stitches to encase pearls and create bezels in open sections. This project can be made in 2 rows or the wider 3 rows.

Rainbow Bracelet
Available in 3 colors one pictured and others to come later.

This bracelet is fun to make and fun to wear! Alternating sizes and colors of chatons to create rows of color texture. Work in Right angle weave and peyote stitches.

Class cost is $275 and includes one complete kit, lunch and dessert.  Additional kits will be available for the other bracelet if you like me, can't decide.  Kits are available in  3 colorways

Sunday February 4, 11-5pm  Pallas Necklace

Available in 3 colors. Rose Gold & Gold, Silver & Gold, and Purple & Bronze.

The necklace is named “Pallas Necklace” after the Pallas Cat (very funny looking little guy).

The project uses a combination of right angle weave, cubic raw, herringbone, netting, and peyote.  It is completely reversible so when worn it can roll around and it will always sparkle. It wears long.  The larger crystal on the end is reversible as well one side has a 27mm Swarovski rivoli and the other is embellished with pearls and has an 18mm rivoli.  This looks like a bunch of components attached but surprisingly a lot of the piece works off of each other and not too much connecting of components.

Class cost is $300 and includes the complete kit, lunch and dessert.
Kit will be available in  3 colorways

I hope you can join us for one or more days.  We always have such a good time.

It's a Game

A Cat and Mouse Game!

What will be the first mystery of 2018?  How about something from a new designer, Dominic Bourbeau?  Totally mid-century modern and fun.  This is going to be a happy fun mystery class, but aren't they all?

We will stitch this canvas together in two lessons! Classes will be January 28th and  February 11th, Sunday afternoons from 1-3pm.
Canvas design area is 9 x 13 handpainted on 18ct canvas. Class cost is the price of the canvas plus $20 per lesson and the threads, beads etc. necessary for that lesson. The canvas cost for this design is $156.00. If you’re attending in person, there is an additional $15 per lesson fee.
You will need 13 x 17 stretcher bars.
*Class size is limited. Please sign up early to reserve your space and ensure you receive your canvas in time to start with the rest of the class. A $100 non refundable deposit will be required. Balance due at the first class.
You may also sign up for this mystery long distance and have us send it to you in installments or as a complete kit at the end of the mystery. Note:  We will charge you for each lesson as we go along but hold your kits and ship at the end of the class to help you offset shipping charges.
You can sign up online here or give us a call at 410.296.0405.

Only the Best Dressed

Fashionably dressed owls, never late to a party...  Stella and Max are my new BFFs.

We stitched their faces in class last Sunday.  It was a fun first lesson of the Brooke Connor Holiday Owls Mystery Class.  I love when a face comes to life on a canvas.  It grounds everything and you just know it's all going to come together.  Suddenly the canvas has a soul.

Look at those eyes!!!

We also stitched vests.  We created a super quick composite stitch that is dynamic thanks to a change of direction.

Ohh!  And look at the purple vest.  I love this stitch, and when worked with a single strand of my overdyed floche in a new color it is way too cool.

The blue wing is a work in progress.  Wait until you see what's up my sleeve for the rest of the wing.  OMG too fun.

Here's Stella and Max at the end of lesson one.  We meet again in less than two weeks.  Shall we stitch hats and feathers or shall I surprise you with a background.  Only time will tell.

We do have canvases and threads in stock so if you would like to join the holiday party, now is the time.  Order here, or give us a call at 410.296.0405.

Unfortunately, no snap trays for this project. but the class magnets and matching scissor fobs are super cute.

See you soon

Funny How the Mind Works......

So, I'm working on creating new videos when the muse strikes and the planets align.

But then I have to remember to post them!  LOL.

I made this video while stitching the Hare and the Crow by Brenda Stofft to show how I handled working Japanese Ribbon Stitch for a large curvy leaf.

And it wasn't until just the other day that I remembered I forgot to share it with you.

And if then technology wasn't behaving.  Full moon you know.  It has taken a full day of coddling to get this video to post.  Not sure why, but it did.  Finally it's here.

So here you go, how to make a tall curvy leaf with 7mm ribbon!

Ribbon really is almost as fun as beads, she says with a wink and a giggle.
